I am reading the Tao Te Ching, and taking daily morning walks in the woods to think. This blog is for the AH HA thoughts that I want to remember and share.

What happens when we die?

Your entries are interesting and they make me think a lot... I think you should read the book "Stiff". It's about death, humans, and dead bodies. It sounds gross but it's really interesting. They did a study on dying people and they put them on beds that were also scales. As they died, the people lost weight... the same amount of weight per death. The study claimed that we do have souls because every dying person lost the same amount of weight at the exact moment of death... and that was the soul leaving the body.
Now, a lot of people say "well, dying people go to the bathroom as they die so it was probably that". But remember, these people were on a big bed so anything that came out of them would have been contained to the bed and would have been weighed also.
But if we do have souls... when do we "get" them? As a woman who has been pregnant, I know that it has to be before birth. I knew my son before he was born and could tell his personality because he effected me. I think it happens long before birth but when?
I'll keep that book in mind for next in line! I'm glad you enjoy my thoughts :-) I'm glad you added a mothers perspective on this, because i actually never considered the time spent in the womb! I guess as soon as babies are "created"- they have life, they should have a soul right? Not as soon as they are actually born.... but before that.... Gosh you've got me thinking on such a deeper level right now!
